Out of the mouths of babes.....

"What's a 'Hug' Mummy?"

My 5 year old daughter asked while I helped her out of her school coat. I stood up in horror and looked down at my daughter's face.

I was shocked, I thought "Oh my God..... My own Daughter doesn't know the meaning of the word 'Hug'".

I needed to think.

Wondering "....how this could have happened?" and "....how do I begin to explain what it means to my daughter" who stood watching every thought run across my face... before asking.....




"A-Daughter Me Mummy, A-Daughter Me!"

Do you know why she asked this?


Well... you see.....



Occasionally....

I would hold my daughter in my arms and Squish her, nuzzle into her ear with a grin and say proudly, "My Daughter!", "My Daughter!".

So whenever SHE wanted a hug, she asked me, "A-Daughter Me Mummy, A-Daughter!"
